If you have dynamic information such as stock quotes, weather stats, sports scores etc., then this is a nice tag - if you have the know-how to code dynamic content, I'm sure you could muster a custom marquee as well.

It is already out of style - imagine every web site you go to they "recognize its excellence" then imagine everyone asking "why does everyone have a marquee...it's not like they're runnin' stock quotes or anything"

To each their own.
